The Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers presented "What you need to know in providing Mental Health Care to Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf/Blind Community" on June 12, 2017.  The presenters for the workshop were Kathleen Mitchell and June Walatkiewicz.  The event was video conferenced from the Pathways' Board Room in Marquette to seven Community Mental Health offices throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  Click here for the presentation slides.

 

Kathleen Mitchell, LMSW, ACSW, is a Deaf Licensed Master Social Worker with 20 years’ experience in Community Mental Health system. Kathleen’s work experience includes case management, substance abuse counseling, domestic violence counseling, outpatient therapy and clinical supervision.

 

June Walatkiewicz, LMSW,ACSW,BEI ll, is a board certified Social Worker with over 25 years’ experience in the Mental Health field. June specializes in Outpatient mental health individuals with hearing loss in the tri-county area. In 2004 she was recognized as Social Work of the Year by NASW-Michigan for her work with the Deaf.
